Randal Dennler is a native of Dayton, Ohio, where he began playing the bassoon at age eleven. He has degrees from the University of Michigan, the University of Cincinnati, and is currently continuing his studies at the University of DePaul. Having maintained an active freelance career in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio, he most recently performed with the Elgin Symphony and the Illinois Philharmonic. Currently, Randal is in his second term at DePaul University in the post Master’s certificate program, studying privately with William Buchman. His highlights at Depaul have been performing the opening solo to Stravinsky’s Le sacre du printemps with the DePaul Symphony Orchestra at the New World Center and his wind quintet’s performance of Ligeti’s Sechs Bagatellen für Bläserquintett. Randal now calls Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood home. When he is not playing his bassoon, he does wardrobe styling for advertising campaigns thru Ford Artists Chicago and loves midwestern road trips with his dog, Coda.
